A Patient Adjustment is a portion or the whole charge billed to a patient your practice decides to write off from a patient's balance for any possible reason. It can be in the form of refunds, disallowed amounts, small balance write-offs, and error corrections. In case you need to write off any patient responsibility (e.g., write-offs), you can easily do it through the Billing Ledger.

How to Make a Patient Adjustment
1. Go to the Billing Ledger tab to find the desired patient.
2. Locate the bill you wish to work on and click on it to view the details (in the example below - Bill RB0054418 with outstanding Patient Balance Amount - $64.01).
3. Have a look at the Pt. Balance column and choose a charge you want to make adjustment on.
4. Сlick on the button with 3 dots > Add Patient Adjustment.
5. In the opened window select adjustment reason, date (today's date by default, but can be changed), and amount. Then hit Save.
The changes will be displayed under the Pt. Balance column and Totals accordingly, and the Patient Adjustment transaction will be added to the bill under the Adjustments column (WFF abbreviation indicates the Write-off adjustment type).
Note: The amount of the Patient Balance column of the Billing Ledger is equal to the amount of the Patient Owes in the Bill.
How to Delete a Patient Adjustment
1. In the billing ledger for a desired patient locate a desired bill and a Patient Adjustment that no longer needs to exist.
2. To reverse a Patient Adjustment, click on the button with 3 dots on your far right > Delete.
3. In the pop-up window confirm your actions - hit Delete.
The results of your actions will be reflected as follows:
- In the Billing Ledger: under the Adjustments and Pt. Balance columns. The removed amount will be deducted from Adjustments and added back to the Patient Balance.
- In the Bill: the amount will be added back to the Patient Owes.
Note: To navigate to the bill from the Billing Ledger hit the button with 3 dots on your far right > View Bill Details.
