When rescheduling an appointment, there are two options:
- Change the date and time of the original appointment to the new time slot and adjust the status to Scheduled.
- Copy the original appointment to create a second appointment for the new time slot with the status Scheduled while maintaining the original appointment with the status Rescheduled.
The second option allows you to run reports to show how many and which patients frequently reschedule their appointments. If this is not necessary, the first option can be followed.
Below are the steps to follow the second option for rescheduling appointments:
1. Open the appointment you want to reschedule.
2. Click Create copy.
3. In the pop-up window choose the date and time of the new appointment. Be sure to mark the original appointment with the status Rescheduled, then click Save.
4. A new appointment with the same settings as the original appointment is created. Make adjustments as needed then click Save.
This rescheduling workflow provides the following benefits:
- The patient will receive all appointment automated communications for the new appointment.
- Reports can be run to see which patients are frequently rescheduling.
- The original appointment can be removed from displaying on the calendar by deactivating the Rescheduled filter.
