In this release, foundational work was conducted in preparation for two upcoming releases next month introducing a new feature Self Scheduling and redesigning Prepaid Packages functionality. This effort impacted the number of improvements we could provide in this release. Below are the platform changes which were included in addition to the usual bug fixes.
In this article, you will learn about our updates to:
- Add ability to identify an appointment's billing type for claims processing
- Provide a report highlighting insurance claims for billing
- Display prepaid packages in progress and completed
Billing Type
When creating an appointment, you have the option to identify whether an insurance claim can be submitted for the appointment by using the Billing Type field. The options are:
- Elective (default option): select for a cash-based treatment, such as Botox, which insurance will not cover. Selection advises billers they can ignore these appointments.
- Insurance: select for an insurance-covered treatment, such as Rhinoplasty, which insurance MAY cover. Selection advises billers they should file claims for these appointments.
- Unsure: if it is not clear whether or not the treatment can be submitted for an insurance claim, this selection advises the biller to make the determination.
- Non-Billable: select for an appointment which does not incur an invoice. Examples include a follow up appointment, which is usually free, or multiple appointments scheduled for a single patient visit. In the second case, the first appointment would capture the billable claims and the second appointment would be non-billable as a continuation of the first appointment.
Scheduling QA Report
To compliment our Remedly RCM module for claims billing, the Scheduling QA report summarizes which appointments may be billable to insurance. Highlighting this data allows billers to focus on the appointments most likely to need claims submissions, including the status of corresponding chart/op notes and invoices.
To render the report, navigate to Standard Reports and, after inputting the desired date range and location(s), select Financial > Scheduling QA Reports > By Billing Type.
Prepaid Package Status
In Patient History, prepaid packages can be displayed based on whether they are currently in progress or have been completed.
Use the pull down menu to show status of the prepaid packages.
